There’s something about the sea.
Raya Sol’s artwork was born in Brighton from a love of salty beach walks, gritty sea debris, and mark-making with Indian ink. In 2025, she picked up a paintbrush, and from there, sea creatures and crustaceans began to emerge. Raya Sol’s art captures the delicate detail of claws and exoskeletons, outlining the beauty of gnarled, worn and imperfect shells.
While her collection of original pieces–housed in handmade reclaimed timber frames–continues to grow, sea-lovers can purchase prints, tea towels, mugs and gifts online and in person.
This year, Raya Sol became part of Artists Open Houses Winter Festival at her shared studio, Corner Collective, in the heart of The North Laine, Brighton. More regular pop-ups with fellow artists and makers Esther Rushton, Laura-Marie Nixey and Molly O’Niell are planned for 2026.
While sea creatures are prominent in Raya Sol’s art, new work will take inspiration from nature in its many forms: fungi, flora, fauna, and beyond.
